Rare 1850 Victorian 18k Gold Locket Glass Partition Tourmaline & pearl stones Antique 18ct gold Napoleon III Locket Guilloche Antique Locket

An absolute beauty from the Victorian/Napoleon III era. This unique locket, hallmarked with an eagle head guaranteeing 18k gold purity, has everything a special piece of history should have. It features stunning designs on both the front and back, allowing it to be worn on either side. 

The front is adorned with four large tourmaline stones and four half pearls, giving it a truly unique look. The bail itself is distinctive, holding another tourmaline. This piece may have been a custom order for someone special, as I have never come across such a remarkable design.
Inside, the locket has a lovely glass window partition that can swing back and forth between sides, allowing for the storage of something precious. When opened, you can see that the front is engraved, with a section that allows light to pass through.
The locket closes securely with a satisfying click.
This Victorian treasure is in excellent condition. The gold has light micro scratches consistent with age and wear, but they are not visible to the eye when worn. One tourmaline has a tiny scratch (impact), which is nearly imperceptible in person but more noticeable in photos. Additionally, one pearl is slightly off-center due to the surrounding claws being tightened more than usual.
A true work of art by a talented goldsmith of the period, it is no surprise that this piece has been cherished by its previous owners and has remained in its original condition.
